KEYCIT consists of three joint conferences with separate calls for papers:

Call for Papers - KEYCIT main conference

Key competencies in informatics and ICT may be considered from different perspectives. The following are examples of important questions that will be discussed at the conference:

• Since students from all disciplines need informatics and ICT key competencies for their studies and for their future life - what are these key competencies?
• What are the research priorities in relation to understanding and developing key competencies in informatics and ICT?
• Are there key competencies which informatics and ICT foster exclusively or better than any other subject?
• How can these competencies be taught and how can students acquire these competencies?
• Which of these competencies are necessary for general education and daily life and which in order to master academic informatics studies? How does this impact on curriculum priorities?
• What key competencies does the job market expect from informatics students and from non-academic educated persons?

Invited speakers, tutorials, workshops, and poster/system presentations on the main conference theme will accompany regular presentations of papers.

The conference will provide a forum for lecturers and researchers as well as school and university practitioners.

Conference activities

The conference will feature full papers, short papers, tutorials, workshops, and poster or system presentations. Proposals for each of these session types are invited. All submissions will be refereed according to international standards; further submission guidelines as well as evaluation criteria will be available on the conference homepage.

Papers

A full paper is a standard academic research paper of at most 12 pages. A short paper can be up to 5 pages long and is an academic paper, a position paper, a case study, a policy paper or a national perspective.

Tutorials

Tutorials pursue further education of the participants be it on current innovative projects, programming languages or systems. Proposals for tutorials describe the subject, learning outcomes, time frame, technical requirements and maximum number of participants.

Workshops

In workshops innovative projects or open problems linked to the conference theme or to other current subjects in computer science education will be discussed. Workshops comprise a small number of key presentations followed by a discussion among the participants. Proposals for workshops consist of a short sketch of the subject (max. 3 pages) to be discussed along with planned activities, time frame, and maximum number of participants.

Posters and system presentations

Ongoing research, hard- and software prototypes, theses on selected research activities on the conference theme may be popularized and discussed during the conference. Participants are encouraged to submit a short description (max. 2 pages) of the exhibit as well as technical requirements.

Focus groups, professional groups

Members of IFIP TC3 – WG 3.1/3.3/3.4/3.7 working groups are encouraged to suggest meetings, focus groups or professional groups.

Conference publication

Accepted full and short papers will be published in printed form in the series Commentarii informaticae didacticae

Call for Papers - KCICTP - WG 3.4 parallel conference stream

Key competencies in professional and higher education in ICT may be considered from different perspectives. Possible topics for discussion include, but are not restricted to the following:

• What are the research priorities in relation to understanding and developing key competencies for ICT professionals?
• What materials should be in the curriculum? Are technical competencies enough? What about the place of soft skills?
• How can these competencies best be taught and how can students acquire these competencies?
• Application of Technologies in Professional Education and the Workplace
• Workplace Learning, Learning in Business Networks and Alliances, Learning and Knowledge Management, Learning and Innovation.
• Competencies for integrating individual, group, organisational and inter-organisational learning in a professional/business context.
• Managing Social Network Learning for ICT professionals.

Conference activities

The conference has been designed to provide a forum for researchers and lecturers as well as practitioners. It will feature full papers and short papers. A full paper is a standard academic research paper of at most 15 pages. A short paper can be up to 5 pages long and is an academic paper, a position paper, a case study, a policy paper or a national perspective.

Proposals for each of these session types are invited. All submissions will be refereed according to international standards. Further submission guidelines as well as evaluation criteria will be available on the conference homepage.

Members of IFIP WG 3.4 will run this element of the conference.

Conference publication

After the conference a Springer book will be produced from selected (and enhanced) conference papers. All papers will first be peer-reviewed.

Call for Papers - ITEM - WG 3.7 parallel conference stream

Key digital competencies and skills are currently being placed centre-stage and are highlighted more and more in school and university programmes. There are implications for their management in educational systems and for learning, and there are issues of how to do this most effectively.

Managing key digital competencies and skills may be considered from different perspectives, and important implications and issues will be discussed at this conference:

• What are the key digital competencies and skills for learners in different (formal, informal, non-formal) educational settings?
• How will key digital competencies and skills be managed in different educational settings?
• What management issues are currently arising, and which approaches are being taken to address these?
• What tools enable us to measure such competencies and skills?
• What are the roles and developments of data visualization systems?
• What other skills are needed alongside digital skills in order to equip young people for training and employment and life practices?
• What key digital competencies and skills does the job market expect?
• How will key digital competencies and skills be developed and used in lifelong and intergenerational learning practices?

The conference will be organised into sessions dedicated to different aspects of these questions from the perspective of compulsory education, university education, teacher training and educational management, and training and employment.

The conference will provide a forum for researchers and lecturers as well as school practitioners.

Invited speakers, symposia, and poster/system presentations relating to implications and issues on the main conference theme will accompany regular presentations of papers. Proposals for each of these session types are invited. All submissions will be refereed according to international standards; further submission guidelines as well as evaluation criteria will be available on the conference homepage.

Papers

A full paper is a standard academic research paper of, at most, 12 pages. A short paper can be up to 5 pages long and is an academic paper, a position paper, a case study, a policy paper or a national perspective. Symposia papers should be submitted as long or short papers.

Symposia

A symposium is a collection of related papers on a central theme of the conference. Proposals for symposia outline the theme, the participants, and an abstract of each of their papers.

Posters and system presentations

Ongoing research, projects, hard- and software developments, and theses on selected research activities on the conference theme may be presented and discussed during the conference. Participants should submit a short description (maximum 2 pages) of the exhibit as well as technical requirements.

Members of IFIP TC3 – WG 3.7 working group, in association with other WGs, will run this element of the conference.

The conference, the 11th for the Information Technology in Educational Management working group, builds on and develops key points and concerns raised in the conferences immediately preceding this one:

• The next generation of information technology in education management, held in Bremen, Germany in 2012.
• Information technology and managing quality education, held in Kasane, Botswana in 2010.
• Evolution of information technology in education management, held in Darwin, Australia in 2008.

Conference publication

Accepted full and short papers will be peer-reviewed, double blind, and will be selected, following revision after the conference, for inclusion within edited post-conference proceedings.
